In November 2007 Foster Wheeler, the global engineering company which is the third largest employer in Reading, with over 3,500 staff at its Shinfield Park site, retained Stone Place Corporate to help with its many recruits from all over the world.  Between 15 and 20 engineers a month arrive to work at the organisation, often never having been to the UK before.

We work closely with a local company, Stone Place Corporate, who provide a dedicated team in the primary support role.  This team works alongside Foster Wheeler to provide essential support during the first two weeks of employees entering the UK.

Stone Place began by buying two new houses in Shinfield Park next to Foster Wheeler and equipping them with the highest specification contemporary furniture and modern living technology. The houses come ready with wireless broadband throughout and a resources room which provides two internet ready PCs for local research and communication. These houses offer secure, local and comfortable accommodation with a personal touch. A team member meets all new arrivals and shows them around the house. In addition a shopping trip and stop off at the local phone shop is factored in as soon as possible.

As well as providing excellent accommodation the management offers a property search service. After gaining an understanding of the new employee's long-term accommodation needs, local knowledge and property experience is brought to bear on their behalf. A search for the most suitable properties and accompanied viewings take place until a suitable property is secured. Other services provided include looking for schools, to a trip to the bank and also overseeing the move into the new home. Not everyone requires such extensive services but the mission is to make arrival to the UK and Foster Wheeler as seamless and easy as possible. So far the scheme has helped over 75 people get settled in and got them off to a flying start in the UK.
